About Me

My name is Kara Curran, I am a student at Illinois State University. This site was created in the fall semester of 2010. This wiki could be used to our classroom's Latin America unit. If you would like in other classrooms to use this feel free. It can be used in parts or as the whole. Please just give credit to those who worked hard on this Latin America unit.
My philosophy is exploring during learning and having group work to learn social skills while corresponding lessons to students’ real life. These connections make lasting effects on children. Perhaps they do not remember random details but they do remember the concepts and become better worldly citizens with lessons taught. I believe in frequent and informal assessment to know where students learning is and how i can assist their learning further. I want to push each and every student to progress at their level. I scaffold assignments to my class so that each child is being challenged and will learn something new for them or further their understanding.
Please contact me if you have any questions about the site. My contact information can be found at the bottom of this page as well as the Dominican republic home page.
